Discover how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process in Hong Kong. Designed for EIA practitioners and academics, this session explores how big data analytics and smart technologies within the Hong Kong Environmental Database enhance the efficiency, consistency, and transparency of EIA studies. Attendees will gain insights into AI-assisted environmental surveys and learn how big data streamlines complex assessments. The presentation showcases web-based smart tools and an AI chatbot that automates compliance checking while addressing public concerns. Participants will also explore real-world applications of AI and the Internet of Things (IoT), including automated bird monitoring and intelligent tree-counting systems. Finally, we will reveal a forward-looking system for real-time environmental monitoring and audit (EM&A), demonstrating how AI and IoT advance smart environmental governance for sustainable urban development.
