Environmental Professionals Day 2026

Environmental Professionals Day, celebrated globally on 15 April, recognizes the people working—often behind the scenes—to protect our environment, communities, and future.

Established in 2020 by the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) and the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), the day highlights the critical role environmental professionals play in shaping informed, responsible decisions in an increasingly complex world.

Who are Environmental Professionals?

Environmental professionals include scientists, engineers, planners, policy experts, and more—working across sectors to protect natural systems, support communities, and improve quality of life. You may not always see their names attached to the decisions that shape your community, but their fingerprints are on them.

Fun Fact about 15 April

Environmental Professionals Day falls on the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci—a nod to curiosity, observation, and interdisciplinary thinking that still define the profession today.
