Professionals working in impact assessment and stakeholder relations face complex dynamics: emotionally charged consultations, polarized discourse, power imbalances, and fragile trust. This 12-hour training course offers fundamental tools for dialogue and inclusive conflict resolution, helping professionals navigate tense relationships. These skills are applicable across the various stages of an impact assessment, as well as during community and stakeholder consultation and engagement activities.
Participants will explore the dynamics of community conflict and identity-based needs. They will acquire tools to foster trust and support conflict de-escalation. Through practical exercises, they will strengthen their ability to conduct difficult conversations and collaborative discussions, ask transformative questions, and integrate multiple perspectives—particularly in emotionally charged or intercultural contexts. Realistic scenarios grounded in impact assessment practice will reinforce these learnings.
The training will be co-certified by the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR). It will be delivered by a CICR trainer, supported by an experienced practitioner in social impact assessment and stakeholder relations.
Stéphanie Belliard-Hogue is a mediator, conflict management coach, and certified neutral third party based in Quebec City. As the founding president of PercoLumen – Conflict Resolution, she supports individuals, organizations, and communities seeking to transform conflict-ridden interactions into opportunities for growth and collaboration. Trained in environmental mediation, she brings over 15 years of experience in the federal public service, including work in public and Indigenous consultation within the context of impact assessments. As the lead trainer for the ICRC’s module on facilitating groups in conflict (TPN2), Stéphanie trains Indigenous and civil society leaders across Canada. Résolution De Conflits | Percolumen

IAIA will refund registration fees upon written request received before the specific course deadline; a US$125 processing fee will be retained.
