Build a strong foundation in involuntary resettlement and livelihood restoration through hands-on learning and real-world case studies. Gain essential skills, connect with peers, and build a foundation for further specialization in resettlement planning and social sustainability.
This foundational, but intensive, course offers a practical introduction to the principles and processes of managing involuntary resettlement and restoring livelihoods in development and industry projects. Designed for students, junior consultants, social practitioners, government officials, NGOs, and host community members, the course provides foundational knowledge of international standards such as World Bank ESS5 and IFC PS5.
Through lectures, case studies, and interactive exercises, participants will learn the basics on how to engage with Social Impact Assessments (SIAs), engage stakeholders effectively, design Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), and design inclusive livelihood restoration programs. At the end of the course, attendees will have a solid grounding in global best practices, tools for monitoring and evaluation, and a clear understanding of how to apply these principles within their own project contexts.
