Building Ground Models for Risk Assessment

Trainer: Bang Nong

Description

(1) Building Ground Models for Risk Assessment: A practical, hands-on experience in the creation of ground models by using geology, hydrogeology, geotechnics and chemistry to organize, interrogate and interpret data from a site for the purposes of hazard assessment and risk analyses, and how to use these to develop the ground models required. Personal tuition during the practical sessions, which account for half the course, will be provided. Specific reference will be made to the Environment Agency Report R&D 20 "Methodology for the derivation of remedial targets for soil and ground water to protect water resources". (2) Laboratory Techniques for Environmental Analysis: A 3-day programme providing a unique opportunity for environmental professionals to obtain valuable practical laboratory experience of some of the important analysis techniques and data generation issues, from which data on environmental conditions are reported and environmental policy increasingly established.
