Description
This course, taught by Dr. Larry W. Canter and Dr. Samuel F. Atkinson, focuses on emerging topics related to the principles and practice of EIA, including the planning process, scoping for identifying key impact concerns, cumulative IA, and mitigation banking. Methods and tools studied include GIS, risk assessment, expert systems and decision support systems. Market-based considerations such as incremental cost analysis, emissions trading, and economic valuation of impacts, are also discussed. The use of environmental monitoring and auditing in project management, as well as the use of the Internet in the EIA process, will be addressed.
