This free webinar was held to introduce and discuss the position paper “Addressing Health in Environmental Impact Assessment” which will be published next year at the IAIA20 conference.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is governed in the European Union by EIA Directive 2011/92/EU, as amended by 2014/52/EU. Article 3 of the amended EIA Directive names human health among the topics to be addressed when conducting an EIA. The position paper aims to provide good practice for addressing human health appropriately in EIA for the health sector and all sectors involved in the EIA process, such as the Developers and the Competent Authorities.

This webinar is intended to contribute toward consistent coverage of human health within an EIA. This is of interest to practitioners conducting EIA, developers and by the authorities requested to express their opinion on the information supplied in an EIA report. The webinar will provide an overview of the topics discussed within the position paper and include poll questions to gather opinions of the participants. These discussions will contribute toward the final development of the position paper.

The webinar is presented by the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) and the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).
