LOST IN TIME: THE BLACK HOLE BETWEEN ESIA COMPLETION AND PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

  • Presenter(s): Bryony Walmsley

    Recorded: 1 MAR 2018

This webinar focused on the findings of a case study analysis of 8 transportation projects in southern Africa funded by various development finance institutions (DFI).  It highlighted what happens between environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) completion and implementation on the ground and why so many of the mitigation measures are never implemented.  Bryony offered some solutions on how to overcome this issue to make environmental and social management plans (ESMPs) more effective.

The webinar is targeted at all environmental practitioners and DFIs who are associated with large capital projects.

Bryony Walmsley has 37 years of experience as an environmental consultant in Africa.
