IAIA17 updates IAIA17, “Impact Assessment’s Contribution to the Global Efforts in Addressing Climate Change,†will be held 4-7 April 2017 in Montréal, Canada. For more information, visit the conference website. #iaia17 Abstracts invited: Paper and poster abstracts for IAIA17 are invited on the conference website under the Submissions menu. Please review the guidelines and policies and then submit your abstract by 31 October 2016. ​ Student Fee Waiver program: IAIA is pleased to offer a student fee waiver program for IAIA17. This program allows up to 10 students a waived conference registration fee in exchange for providing in-kind services for IAIA. Program details and application instructions are posted online. Aashukan call for participants: The Indigenous Peoples Section of IAIA is inviting twenty Indigenous participants from around the world to participate in Aashukan, a two-day exchange hosted by the Crees of Northern Quebec, Canada, in their ancestral homelands of Eeyou Istchee in the Cree community of Waskaganish. Aashukan means “bridge†in eastern Cree. The goal of the event is to create a new conversation that reconciles development and the protection of Indigenous culture and lands. It will seek to build bridges between these two imperatives for the benefit of all. Through solicited financial support from a variety of donors, the group hopes to fully fund the travel and participation of the Indigenous participants. Save the date: Resettlement & Livelihoods Symposium in Manila IAIA, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the University of the Philippines, is excited to announce an upcoming special symposium on Resettlement and Livelihoods to be held 20-22 February 2017 in Manila, Philippines. Members in the news: New book on responsible mining IAIA member and Corporate Stewardship and Risk Management Section chair Sara Bice has a new book out. Responsible Mining: Key Principles for Industry Integrity presents a framework for the 21st century mining industry, based on holistic assessment, community-based agreement making, appropriate boundaries, good governance, and ethical decision-making. Upcoming events IAIA Affiliate KSEIA in Korea will be holding their autumn meeting from 20-22 October.
