IAIA23: Abstract submission now open
IAIA23, “Resilience through impact assessment and leadership,” will be held 8-11 May 2023 in Kuching, Malaysia.
Abstract submission is open now through 7 November. IAIA23 will offer more than 70 session topics, so there is something for everyone!
Registration opens in October, but take an early look at the training courses that will be held in conjunction with the conference.

New Section announced
The Board has approved the formation of a new IAIA Section, Impact Assessment and Academia. The new Section, to be chaired by Thomas Fischer, will hold an inaugural meeting at IAIA23. Sections provide opportunities for IAIA members with mutual interests to share experiences and discuss ideas; they serve as a forum for active topical debate and for development and promotion of good practice.
IAIA Board members participate in international events
Current Board members Gaby Factor (President) and Victoria Marquez-Mees (Director-Secretary) presented virtually in the First Forum of Infrastructure, Environment, and Sustainability, held 7-8 September at the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico. Factor also congratulated the Japan Society for Impact Assessment on its 20th anniversary at the IAIA-Japan Branch meeting this month.

Across the globe, those harmed by climate change are turning to courts
The 2022 Global Trends in Climate Change Litigation report by researchers from the London School of Economics and Political Science found that in the past eight years, more than 1,200 cases of climate litigation were filed, whereas only about 800 had been filed from 1986 to 2014. More and more countries are seeing such litigation.
